Following vigorous community resistance and significant legal disputes, the City Council voted to reject Banning Point, a divisive commercial warehouse project. The development, which was planned for a site opposite the Sun Lakes Country Club's main entrance, encountered fierce criticism due to concerns regarding air pollution and increased traffic congestion.
This 47-acre plot of undeveloped land is located within the Sun Lakes Village North Specific Plan. It sits conveniently north of Sun Lakes Boulevard, positioned behind the Sun Lakes Village Shopping Center. While the warehouse proposal is now dead, the future of this vacant space remains a focal point for our local community.
